Lawrie Phipps will discuss the changing nature of technology and how this may affect higher education institutions. Starting with predictions about technology and the perils of second-guessing future developments, Lawrie will then consider how changing demographics and skill sets in potential students may impact on how universities communicate with them in the future. This will include references to mobile communications and student-generated content. His keynote speech will end with some possible scenarios for universities looking to use technology to improve engagement and internal processes.

Our first year with EMT Connect

University of Greenwich - the next chapter with EMT

After winning a ‘Rookie of the Year’ Award at last year’s Connect U in Boston, Vanessa Newton will discuss how the University of Greenwich has built on the success of their previous efforts. They will focus on managing open days through EMT Connect and on how they have structured the communications plan this year to make the enquirer experience as smooth as possible.

Training session - Do it Yourself with EMT ApplyYourself

This class will give EMT ApplyYourself users information about the various aspects of the system which you can control directly, without having to contact technical support or your Account Manager. Being able to make changes yourself not only saves time, but also ensures that your system is always up-to-date, communicating the most timely and relevant information to your students. Topics will include the effective use of dynamic text, instructions, style sheet, downloadable forms, and images. This session is designed for more technical users of EMT ApplyYourself.

In this session members from the Online Postgraduate Admissions Project Team at the University of Bristol will share their experience to date of implementing EMT ApplyYourself. From October 2010, the University of Bristol plan to use Hobsons technologies to accept and manage all postgraduate taught and research applications online. This presentation will outline the project scope, aims, approach and planning as well as dealing with how they have addressed some of the challenges a devolved University like Bristol has in this area.

Game On! The impact of CRM on internationalisation at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore

This session will present a case study of Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore - the first Italian university to use EMT solutions. Léa Senn will provide an overview of the institution and its internationalisation strategy, to demonstrate how EMT Connect and EMT ApplyYourself have contributed, even before their effective implementation and use, to consolidating the institutional efforts and structural and administrative changes necessary to position the university in the international higher education market.

Using technology to embed a holistic approach to recruiting and retaining students

Using her many years as Provost and Dean of Enrolment at Belmont University as a basis for discussion, Kathy will be exploring the crucial role faculty members play in recruitment, marketing and admissions. She will discuss how she encouraged better communications between administative and academic colleagues and how you can embed use of a technology system by engaging faculty staff.
